We would like to invite you to the European Summer School on Photovoltaics and New Concepts
of Quantum Solar Energy Conversion to be held from 14th to 21st September 2008 in Hirschegg, Kleinwalsertal,
Austria. The school is primarily addressed to students who are interested in photovoltaics and its
application and who are in their final year at university or have started in a PHD program.
Organizing Committee:
Dr. Klaus Lips, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, Germany
Prof. Dr. Gion Calzaferri, University of Berne, Switzerland
Prof.
Daniel Vanmaekelbergh, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands
The school will follow the tradition of previous very successful summer schools organized by QUANTSOL in 1998, 2001, 2003
and 2006. The school is organized to be very interactive and the participants and speakers are asked to present their field
of research in a short oral presentation.
Subjects of the school are:
- Energy Scenarios
- Principles of photovoltaics
- Thermodynamics of solar energy conversion
- Crystalline silicon solar cells
- Thin-film solar cells (Silicon, CdTe, CIS, III-V)
- Plastic Solar Cells
- Material characterization and special analytics
- Light harvesting and energy transfer
- Photoelectrochemical cells
- Semiconductor nanostructures and quantum dots
- Solar cell simulation including practical sessions
Invited speakers, all recognized scientists from leading world laboratories, will give lectures covering topics on the
fundamental principles of the conversion of solar energy into chemical and electrical energy as well as their technological
application in photovoltaic devices.
Confirmed speakers are: | Peter Würfel | (Universität Kalsruhe)
| | J. Cees Hummelen | (Universiteit Groningen, NL)
| | Daniel Vanmaekelbergh | (Universiteit Utrecht, NL)
| | Rolf Stangl | (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin)
| | Thomas Dittrich | (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin)
| | Laurie Peter | (University of Bath)
| | Gion Calzaferri | (Universität Bern)
| | Thomas Hannappel | (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin)
| | Klaus Lips | (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin)
